About the Illustrator

My name is Abigail Roscoe. I’m the illustrator of this book. If you are reading this, I hope you found yourself moved by this book’s empowering and personal messages. Sarah Rosen Garrett and I worked very hard to bring you, dear reader, a book that can inspire you to overcome any hurt or adversity in your life. I am an autistic and physically disabled artist who struggles with PTSD. I want to help people, especially children, overcome the hurdles that life throws at us sometimes. Recently, I was diagnosed with a permanent disability that had me in a really dark place—but as the Phoenix Bird rose and overcame, so did I! With the love and support around me, I rose and overcame this challenge, becoming a new version of myself. We are all constantly changing as people—and while hurtful experiences may change us, we can come out of them stronger than we once were. Remember, you are loved, and whatever adversities life throws at you—you can, and will, overcome. You, dear reader, are stronger and more resilient than you can imagine.
